A Candidate for the New Year?

Happy 2007!

As the first post of this New Year, it's only fitting that we talk about a fresh start.

Candidates - start your engines.

Mr. Rogers is decidedly bad for our Neighborhood. Who can we look to really represent our interests? There's been talk about various people who have been positioning themselves for a run against Mr. Rogers next year (2008).

We'd like them to step outside and introduce themselves. It's always good to get to know your neighbors. Whether it's a cup of sugar or a vote, we always do our best to help each other out.

Stay tuned to the Neighborhood.

Hello Sally, nice to hear from you again. My guess is he will not ever take on Sen. Carl Levin. His history is he does not take on an incumbent. Correct me if I am wrong about this because you have been an observer of Livingston County politics a lot longer than I have, but when Rogers first ran for the Senate in 1994 didn’t he run for the open seat vacated by Fred Dillingham? We know he only ran for the open 8th Congressional seat when Debbie Stabenow vacated it to run for and win the U.S. Senate seat.

That history tells me that in order to figure out what he will do you need to see what office will be open in the next 2-4 years that are considered a step up for him. The only one I see is governor in 2010.
